Flat Rock Playhouse will hold auditions for local singers to perform with the professional company in the winter production of
A Flat Rock Playhouse Christmas.
The Christmas show will feature brand-new arrangements of exciting and popular holiday songs with a full onstage chorus, and professional soloists.
Approximately 40-44 chorus members will be divided into two twenty voice SATB groups to alternate performances for the run of the show. The hope is that this double-choir division will encourage those who have day jobs and other such conflicts to audition. The Chorus will meet on September 20th for distribution of sheet music and CDs of parts & listening tracks followed by a quick run-thru of the music. Then, starting on October 23th, rehearsals will be every Sunday afternoon and every Tuesday evening, and performance schedules will be agreed upon once the full complement of singers has been cast.
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 16, and Sunday, August 21.
While previous choral experience is preferred, with sight-reading a plus, the Playhouse wants to encourage singers of all age groups from high school through retirement to audition. Auditions will include a short selection chosen by the singer; an accompanist will be provided. This experience should prove fun and musically rewarding for all who participate.
