A TOUR OF THE GROUNDS

Flat Rock Playhouse
The barn-like appearance of the main stage facility is reminiscent of our summer stock beginnings, but today it houses state of the art lighting and sound systems, electronic stages,  costume studio/storage, and dressing room space for 40. The Auditorium seats 506 patrons in air-conditioned comfort. There is reserved seating for patrons with special needs and assistive listening devices are available at no additional charge.

Albert S. Gooch Scenic Studio
Adjoining the main stage is the scenic studio (75”X 40”) fully equipped for scenic construction, welding, painting, properties craft storage and construction.

Concession Stand
Located in the garden courtyard beside the main stage, the concession stand serves light snacks, sodas, beer, wine, mixed beverages and Leona’s Honey Lemonade (a Playhouse tradition). Also available are souvenirs including ball caps, tee-shirts, sweats and other collectables. The Concession Stand opens one hour prior to each performance and is open at intermission.

Rehearsal Hall

This historic home was built in 1885 by Richard I’on Lowndes. The Playhouse Administrative Offices and Box Office are located in main floor and what was the carriage house.

Artist and Student Housing: Jim-Dan Dee Hall

Robin R. Farquhar youTHeatre Education Center
Classes now range from kindergarten to twelfth grade.  They also include the apprentices and interns, and even offer dance and acting programs for adults.   The Education Center has classrooms, a professional sprung dance floor, multi-media library, conference room, music room, teacher offices, a video/computer room for archives and educational video and DVD, costume and properties work/design and storage, restrooms, parent waiting areas, sound booth, and—often overlooked—ample storage.
